✨ Hello & Welcome! ✨
I don’t know about you, but I love sneaking a peek at a small business’s “About Us” page. There’s just something inspiring about hearing the story behind the name and the dream behind the brand. So, what better way to kick things off than with our very own re-introduction? 😊
Once upon a time back in 2011, there were three (3) sisters (and best friends) who practically did everything together except work ( I bet you can see where this is headed, but stay with me). Each sister was pursuing a completely different career path, from primary teaching, to law, to media. But in spite of the joy in their respective fields, there was still something missing in their day-to-day work lives… each other!
And so ‘A Touch of Glitz and Glam’ was born.
Okay, so it may not have been a smooth, Hallmark style beginning or event straightforward at all – in fact it was probably more chaotic than you’d think because after all, we were delving into a new space entirely. We didn’t have much to go off except our own creativity and persistence which was not without its extreme challenges. We spent late nights up on our computers brainstorming, creating procedures, shopping (in-store across Sydney because online buying was just not a thing at the time), walking around letter-box dropping (yes, we are THAT old) and trying to figure out how to actually code a full website (once again, before the ease of WordPress and drag and drop builders). But somehow, amidst the creative chaos, the healthy disagreements (ha!) and all of the bubbling excitement, we managed to build our very own little business that very quickly became a full-time gig!
And the best part? We did it all ourselves! Practically no budget, no money to pay someone to create or design something for us, no social media to fall back on and an idea that most people had never heard of but somehow, we grew something really special.
Fast forward 14 years (and three logos later) and we are still here 😊 still learning, still growing and still blessed to be running our full-time “little business” that takes us on a new adventure each and every week and lets us be part of hundreds of special celebrations every year. ✨
Along the way we’ve learnt a thing or two about:
- Managing a team of 15 incredible (and sometimes dramatic 😉) girls
- Building a business from scratch (our feet still hurt from all the letterbox drops)
- Surviving a worldwide pandemic (yes, THAT one)
- Dealing with the copycats 🙃 (a post/rant on this is looong overdue)
- And most importantly: how to host a really really good party that EVERYONE (yes, parents too) will actually enjoy 🎉
Now, we’re excited to share more of what we’ve learnt with you — our tips, our behind-the-scenes stories, and maybe a little sparkle of wisdom along the way.
